about

It was right before Bandcamp Friday, June 2020. The Pandemic was upon us, and I was thinking maybe I could cover a Dharma Bums song, sell it to a few fans and old friends and raise a little money for the Jeremy Wilson Foundation. But then I thought, ‘Hey, what if I got more few people to cover their fave Bums tune, wouldn’t that be better?' And the more I thought about it, the more I thought this could be a really awesome project. I shared my vision with my colleague Mike (Mick) Hickman, and the sparks ignited. We made a giant list of artists who we thought might go for it.

Wanting to snag the biggest fish first, we got a hold of the Freshest Fellow we could think of: Scott McGaughey (AKA Scott the Hoople), co-producer of Dharma Bums spectacular debut album, Haywire and the man often referred to as ‘The 5th Bum’. Not only did Scott reply that he was in, but he wanted to do at least 3 songs!

Well, it was all downhill from there, as they say. So many wonderful artists, musicians, and photographers all offered up whatever they could to make this crazy idea a reality. It took much longer than we imagined and anyone wanted, but in the end it all finally came together – many gold stars must go to Randall Payton for getting everything into shape!

Thank you all so much – you have our undying love and appreciation.
